Victoria Beach
Famous for Pirate Tower, Victoria Beach is one of Laguna Beach’s iconic locations. It is a little hard to get to with limited parking and the steps a hidden in a neighborhood for those not in the know. Vic Beach, as locals refer to it, requires a hike through a housing development west of Coast Highway. There is no parking in this area so you will need to park on Coast Highway or the neighborhood to the east of PCH and take the tunnel under the highway.
Despite its difficulty to get to, Victoria Beach is a popular beach. The tide pool and Pirate Tower (or La Tour) offer a draw from tourists and families. It’s also a great beach for sunbathing, bodysurfing, and skimboarding.

History of Victoria Beach
One cannot talk about Victoria Beach without talking about its famous tower. While some might assume due to its location and tower shape, it was meant as a lighthouse. However, this castle-like structure was built for the home owner of the mansion on the bluff as an enclosed staircase down to the beach. At the bottom of the staircase tower, the owner also built a pool for capturing water during incoming tides. The house and structures was built in the 1920s for California State Senator William Edward Brown and his family. They used it during summers and holidays as a retreat from their Beverly Hills home.
